IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicholas T.
George
August 8, 1944 – July 21, 2025
Nicholas T. George, beloved husband, father, friend, and counselor in every sense of the word, passed away on July 21, 2025. He was 80.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruthie; daughter Mimi (Rick) Kent; son Niko (Micaela O'Leary) George; grandchildren Sidney and Josie Kent and Ida George; niece Theresa (Mikk) Carr and their children Alexine (Caleb), Tia and Willow; sister-in-law Patti Weinstein and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister George Ann Wheeler.
A practicing attorney for over 55 years, recently retiring from Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, Nick approached his work with integrity, tenacity, and a deep love for the law. He was the kind of person people turned to for legal advice, for life advice, and for business insight. He gave generously of his time and wisdom, always ready with a thoughtful word or steady perspective.
He believed in giving back. A dedicated member of the Akron Rotary and longtime supporter of the Comunale Foundation, Nick believed in the purpose and power of service. He found meaning in helping others and in being part of something bigger than himself.
Outside the office and his service work, he lived life with heart and enthusiasm. He loved to travel, ski, hike, and bike—finding joy in nature and new experiences. He appreciated music, sports, well-packed suitcases, and sun-drenched beaches. He dressed with timeless style and collected friendships wherever he went.
Nick was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather and uncle. His greatest joy came from time with his family, especially during vacations where he could soak up the sun, share a meal, and be surrounded by the people he loved most.
Cantor Kathy Fromson will conduct a graveside service Thursday 11:00 am at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 West Market Street in Fairlawn. Please join Nick's family immediately following the service until 3p for lunch at the DoubleTree by Hilton Akron Fairlawn, 3180 W Market St, Akron, OH 44333.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rotary Camp of Akron, 4460 Rex Lake Drive, Akron, OH 44319, Comunale Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 13805, Akron, OH 44334 or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
