Nancy Elaine Resnik (née Humphreys), age 63, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, after many years of living with metastatic breast cancer. Born on May 17, 1962, in Ravenna, she was the daughter of the late Lewis C. Humphreys and Susan (Lorinchack) Humphreys.
Nancy lived her life with gratitude and warmth. Even through the challenges of her illness, she never framed her days as a "battle." Instead, she embraced each day with positivity and appreciation, grateful for every moment she had with family and friends.
She was a proud graduate of Ravenna High School. For many years, Nancy worked at the Carousel Dinner Theatre in Ravenna and then Akron as Head Waitress, as well as in the box office and group sales. It was there that she met Marc, the love of her life. They were married on December 31, 1988, and shared almost 37 years together filled with love, laughter, and family. Through even the toughest times, they always supported and believed in each other.
Nancy had a natural gift for hospitality. She was a wonderful cook, known for her ability to take even the simplest leftovers and turn them into meals that tasted fresh, new, and often better than the original. Her home was always a place of welcome, comfort, and laughter. She was "Mom" not only to her own children but to countless others who felt at home in her presence and warmth.
A dedicated volunteer, Nancy gave generously of her time to her community. She served as PTO Treasurer and President, Market Day Chair, and H&I Chair, and participated in the Ohio Reads program, reflecting her deep belief in helping children and families thrive.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Marc Resnik, and children, David (Charlotte) Humphreys, Adam (Hannah Pais) Resnik, Rebecca (Andrew Whisman) Resnik, and Jacob (Jenna) Resnik. As "Nanny," she was a proud grandmother to Jarrett, Andy, and Bailey, and she deeply hoped to hold Rebecca and Andrew's second daughter, Sophia Elaine, once she was born. She was also a devoted dog mom to Zeke and is remembered by her dear friends Jennifer Novak and Jacqueline Lohr. She is also survived by her brother, Lewis S. Humphreys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis C. Humphreys and Susan Humphreys, and her sister Mary Jordan.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Cleveland Clinic for their exceptional care throughout Nancy's journey. Special thanks go to Dr. Daniel Silbiger, Dr. Kenneth Weiss (retired), her infusion nurses - especially Mel - and the many others who treated her with compassion and kindness.
Burial will take place privately at Foxfield Preserve prior to services. Funeral services will be held at Temple Israel Akron, 91 Springside Dr., Akron, OH 44333, on Tuesday, December 23, at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Rabbi Joshua Brown, with a light meal and consolation to follow until 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nancy's memory to Temple Israel Akron, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Paws & Prayers Pet Rescue, or to a charity of your choice.
