IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Livia J.
Kades
March 14, 1948 – November 26, 2025
Livia Joan (Reuben) Kades of Akron died peacefully on November 26 after a long illness.
Livia was a devoted wife to Phillip A. Kades, to whom she was married for 55 years. She was a loving mother to Josh (Stefanie) Kades and Beth (Brian) Newman, doting grandmother to her four grandsons, Jacob, Alex, Isaac, and Eli, and the beloved daughter of Harold and Alma Reuben, sister of Howie and Mark Reuben.
Livia was a one of a kind — an ardent fan of any Ohio sports team her dear husband and son favored, a lover of opera, an enthusiastic world traveler whose home was warm and open to all, and an engaged and supportive friend to a committed circle of dear friends.
She was a graduate of Copley High School and active for decades in the local Jewish community, proud to celebrate her cultural heritage and serve on multiple boards and committees, always eager to contribute to the greater local good. Livia taught kindergarten for over three decades at the Lippman School, shepherding hundreds of children over the years with a gentle hand and gracious nature.
No one was immune to her disarming charm, her open disposition, her eagerness to connect. She was a connector, a cheerleader, a community builder, and the compassionate heart of her family.
Private graveside service on Friday, November 28th. Memorial service will be held at Temple Israel in Akron, Ohio on Friday, November 28th at 12:00. Light meal and consolation to follow until 3 pm. Donations may be made to Lippman Day School and Temple Israel.
