Karyn Bobkoff Katz, 74, passed away February 12, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Karyn was born February 5, 1951 in Corsicana, Texas to the late Burney and Eileen Bobkoff.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years Steve, daughter Elizabeth (Aaron) Kutz, son Eric (Shainy) Katz, grandchildren Pia, Noah, Aryeh Leib, Jack, ZC, Binyomin Meir and sister Lauri (Brian) Odness.
Karyn earned her Bachelor's degree at The University of Texas, a Master's Degree at Case Western University and a Doctorate at Kent State University in Speech Pathology. A longtime area resident, Karyn was employed at The University of Akron for 31 years as a Professor of Speech Pathology and later, Associate Dean of the Honors College.
She enjoyed spending time volunteering for the Access Women's Shelter and Summit County Juvenile Court. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 18 at 10:30 am at Temple Israel in Akron followed by lunch at Revere Road Synagogue. Shiva will be held Tuesday, February 18 and Wednesday, February 19 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Revere Road Synagogue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Access Women's Shelter, the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
