Dr. Joseph B. Chapman, born November 27, 1926, in Akron passed away on October 12, 2023.
Joe was the son of Julius Chapman and Pearl Diskin; loving husband of Lillian (nee Recht) Chapman for 56 years; and brother of Shirley Wolfe. Joe was predeceased by son and daughter in law, Jeffrey and Joanne Chapman and granddaughter Raleigh Chapman Marks. He is survived by his children Kathi (Roger) Marks of Akron, Sherri Goldfarb of Akron and Scott (Laura) Chapman of Delray Beach, Florida. He is survived by his grandchildren Seth and Jordan Marks, Michael, Philip and Jenifer Goldfarb and Jeffrey, Alec and Liza Chapman and 4 great grandchildren.
Joe was a World War II army veteran, serving in the Philippines and Japan. Upon his return he completed his undergraduate degree and continued his education at The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He cared for all his patients with great compassion, extending his services to all regardless of their ability to pay. He retired in 2015 at 88 years old and was proud to be the oldest practicing dentist in Summit County at the time of his retirement. He will be remembered for his engaging smile and pleasant demeanor. He loved sports and was rarely seen without a book in his hands.
Private graveside services will be held. Shiva will be held at Revere Road Synagogue from 6-8 PM on Monday October 16 where kaddish will be recited at 7:30 PM. Friends who wish may contribute to the Revere Road Synagogue.
