Obituary

Jeffrey M. Curtis died unexpectedly Jan. 25, 2024.
Jeff, who was 70, died less than three months after his beloved wife, Carol Holub-Curtis passed away after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
A native of Akron, Jeff graduated from Coventry High School and earned his bachelor's degree in music performance and composition from Kent State University in 1983.
Most of his career was spent in publishing, where he served as vice president and general manager of Franklin Printing Co., president of Merrick Graphics, director of sales and marketing at Davis Graphic Communications Solutions, and owner of Curtis Marketing Communications.
While printing was his "day job" his true passion was music. Jeff was an integral part of the Akron music scene, playing drums and keyboards with a number of local bands including The Business, Red House, Istari, the Wanda Hunt Band, and most recently with the Mick and Rick Band.
In the last few years, Jeff dedicated his life to taking care of his wife, Carol, who he had been married to for 39 years.
Besides his wife, Jeff was preceded in death by his father, George J. Curtis, his mother, Marie Heupel Curtis Dittebrand, and his brother Jonathan Paul Curtis.
He is survived by his sister, Janice Curtis Wood, his brother James D. Curtis, nephews Jamie Curtis and John Wood, and nieces Stephanie Wood and Cicely Wood. His cat, Lily, has found a new home with Jeff's friend Brian Lahr.
A celebration of life will be held Feb. 8, 2024, at Cottage Grove EC Church, 3133 Cottage Grove Road, Akron, Ohio, 44319, at 11 a.m. (There is a ramp into the basement room near the pastor's office for those who may need it.)
His family asks his friends to share stories of their good times with Jeff, followed by a lunch.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jeff's name to the The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
