George S. Hoffman
George Seixas Hoffman peacefully passed away on November 18, 2023, at home after a long illness. He was born on November 25, 1941 to the late Abigail and Nathan Hoffman in Ventnor, New Jersey.
Although born in New Jersey, George spent most of his adult life in the Akron area, and enjoyed a long, successful career as a stockbroker for 30 years, He owned the championship professional soccer team, the Cleveland Crunch from 1989 to 2001. George took great pride in bringing 3 Championships to the City of Cleveland and being awarded keys to the city. The Crunch players were very much a part of George's family and he so enjoyed having lunch and reminiscing about the games with the players.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen M. Hoffman, who was his best friend, travel companion and angel caregiver after the onset of frontal temporal lobe dementia. He is survived by his children; Nathan R., Rachel K., (Steve), Asher C., (Ilka), Haley A.; grandchildren Alexander, Abigail, Everett, Adelaide, and Joseph; twin brother Monte and his children Alicia, Mara and Jon; sister Jane (Phil) Paress and their children Daniel, Jennifer (Rafi); Karen's sons, Jamie and Alex (Carin) Marks and their children, respectively, Riley, Wyatt, Orion, and Paige. He will be missed by his dear friends "the entire Cleveland Crunch team;" Dave Robinson; and Pamela, his former secretary, who after his encouragement and mentorship, became a stockbroker.
He was loved by all and filled the room with laughter. The world will be a little less colorful without his spark!
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 10 am at Gordon Memorial Home, 1260 Collier Road in Akron. Private burial will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family requests no flowers but rather donations to dementia research organizations in George's name.
