Obituary

David Cooper, 98, passed away on October 15, 2022. David was born February 22, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York to Max and Leona (Kafka) Cooper.

David served in the Army in the European Theater, during WWII. He earned a Bronze Star for his service. After serving in the Army, he returned home to finish college at CCNY, with a degree in Chemical Engineering. David accepted a job with Goodyear which brought him to Akron Ohio. There he met and married Ruth Moskovitz. They were married 42 years and raised 5 children, who in turn gave him 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. David later worked for M.A. Knight company, then accepted a job with Congoleum, which took the family to New Jersey. He later moved back to Akron, where he returned to a job with M.A. Knight Company from which he retired. He spent many wonderful years with family and friends.

David enjoyed a variety of activities. He was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing weekly with friends. He was also a skilled carpenter and created many items for the home. David was also a big do-it-yourself kind of person, teaching himself many skills which he passed on to his children, saying 'Why pay for it when you can fix it yourself". He was a lifelong member of Temple Israel.

After Ruth's death, David met and married Esther Morris. They spent 25 wonderful years together.

David was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sylvia Minsky (Joe), brother Edwin, first wife Ruth Moskovitz and stepdaughter Greta Meyer. He leaves behind wife Esther Cooper, children Lon (Laurie), Kerry, Lisa Pesantez, Susan Brady (Charles), Eric, Stepdaughter Allyson Stewart, and Step-son-in-law Mark Meyer, nine grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons, many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 19th at 10:00 am at
Temple Israel
91 Springside Dr.
Akron, Ohio 44333

Shiva will be held from 3 – 5 PM at
Westwood Village Club House
1012 Bunker Dr.
Fairlawn, OH 44333
