In Loving Memory of Beverly Barnett

Beverly Barnett passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 24th, 2024, in Delray Beach, Florida, just two weeks shy of her 97th birthday. Born on the 4th of July, 1927, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Isidore and Ida Gergel, immigrants from Belarus, Beverly's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of family and community.

Beverly married James J. Barnett, on January 6, 1948, and moved to to Akron, Ohio, where two of her sisters, Cynthia Wein and Maxine Schneir, and their families also ultimately settled. As a dedicated member of Akron's Temple Israel, she was an active in the Sisterhood and numerous Jewish activities in the Akron area.

They then moved to Weston, Florida in 1987 to be nearer their oldest son and when Jimmy, passed in April 1992, Beverly went on to work for ten years at Andrea's Linens & Bath in Fort Lauderdale, where she used her eye for beauty and talent for interior design to help clients create exquisite home and yacht decor.

A mother of three sons, Richard Allen, Bruce David, and Brian Keith, Beverly faced the sorrow of losing her oldest, Richard, in 2006. She is survived by her sons Bruce, his wife Jan, their son Alex, his wife Katie, and their daughter Reese; her son Brian, his daughter Jennifer, her husband Jason Dunphy, and their daughter Kamryn; as well as Brian's son Benjamin and his wife Megan.

Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved sisters Cynthia Wein and Melba Gould and is survived by her sister Maxine Schneir, along with many nieces and nephews. Her legacy extends beyond her immediate family to the many lives she touched with her love and grace. Her commitment to her faith & jewish community was unwavering, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11 am at Rose Hill Burial Park, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Israel of Akron, where Beverly's spirit of giving and community involvement will continue to flourish.
May her memory be a blessing.
