Obituary

Anita Ellen Bloch passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025 in Akron, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Stern and father, Manuel Baden, (OBM).

Survived by her loving spouse, William Bloch, and their children, Barry (Vickie), Susan (Steven) and David (Maria/Emily). Also survived by her brother, Roger (Sally) and her beloved grandchildren, Sam (Nicholas), Joel, Alyssa (Jordan), Manny (Stephanie), Emilio and Josh.

Anita was born in Cleveland, Ohio in October 1937, grew up in Beachwood and graduated from Shaker Heights High School. Anita married William Bloch in 1958 and raised three children in West Akron. She kept score at countless little league baseball games for her children and was so proud of her grandchildren in Akron, New Jersey and North Carolina. Anita was the #1 fan of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians. Anita worked as the Office Manager at Bloch Printing Company, the Program Office and Camp Secretary at the Shaw JCC, Akron Ohio and volunteered at Temple Israel for over 20 years.

Anita was always a helpful, friendly and welcoming face at Temple Israel and wherever she went. She was known for her memorable Brisket, her legendary Matzo Ball Soup, and a mean Blintz Souffle. She was the most devoted grandmother as everyone knew by her license plate, GMA NITA. She and Bill drove far and wide, spending endless hours watching the grandkids swim and play Football, Baseball, Soccer, Rugby, Tennis and Softball. Anita couldn't be more proud of her children and grandchildren. Her family and friends were her world and her joy.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Gordon-Flury Memorial Home, 1260 Collier Road, Akron, Ohio.
